Fuzzy Sun, the rapidly rising Stockport five-piece, are going on their debut UK tour. The tour will see them play 8 dates across the UK in May at Sheffield, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Bristol and a special hometown gig at Manchester's Club Academy.
2019 is a massive year for Fuzzy Sun after they broke through last year selling out headline shows at Manchester’s Soup Kitchen and YES, aswell as heading out on tour with fellow Stockport pop outfit, Blossoms.
Following their own UK headline tour this year, Fuzzy Sun will also then be joining Blossoms at Edgeley Park for their sold-out hometown gig on Saturday 22nd June. The big event will see The Coral, Cabbage and The Blinders also supporting, which will prove to be an amazing day in Stockport and a very proud moment for both bands.
We were given a taste in 2018 of just what is to be expected from Fuzzy Sun, with the launch of their EP 'Warm Evening/Cold Morning'. Taking us on a journey through melodic, psychedelic pop, in their own words. This year is already looking like a phenomenal year for them, as they were named as Manchester Evening News’ Breakthrough Act for 2019. We can't wait to hear more from them, and desperately waiting on debut album news!
We managed to catch up with frontman and guitarist Kyle Ross, and lead guitarist, Raffi. We asked them a few questions about their upcoming headline tour, about their tour with Blossoms and just how excited they are at playing Edgeley Park!
Kyle: "We can't wait. We're more excited than Theresa May was when the virtual ABBA tour was announced."
Raffi: "Definitely. We've got four new tunes that we wrote specifically for the tour. We're going to cycle them in and out on different nights and get a vibe for what everybody thinks of them. Sort of like a weird focus group."
Kyle: "And the new single. That'll be out very soon. Everyone has responded really well to it live so it'll be great to play it when people have the recording as a reference point."
Raffi: "They were great tours. The band and crew are the best guys to be seeing day-in-day-out. I don't think it's a case of making us hungrier; we're pretty hungry as it is."
Kyle: "Obviously it's great playing the big venues and yeah, hopefully we'll headline them ourselves one day. I suppose 21st century capitalism makes us hungry for everything though."
Kyle: "It'll be our first stadium gig (if you can call it that haha) jokes aside, its gonna be a class day with a great line up in our home town, whats not to look forward to. Also our drummer, Mitch, is a big county fan too so it will be extra special for him."
Raffi: "I think that's still a while off. We have 24 songs now so more than enough for a couple of records. But I think releasing an album isn't tremendously conducive to being successful these days. It needs to be timely. We're really just looking to put out tunes that people will love and hopefully, that'll make people more excited for the album when the time is right."
We wish Kyle, Raffi and the rest of Fuzzy Sun all the best with their tour and will obviously be there ourselves at a date or two. We cannot wait to hear the new music guys, keep it up! If you would like to keep up with the band then follow their Facebook by clicking here.
