Narrow Margin are the new kids on the block, releasing their debut single under the fast rising umbrella which is 42's Records. The Manchester based band are very excited to get their first physical release, Kids Don't Dance, out to the public which contains a new track called 'Hey Mr Shareholder' and a previously unreleased version of their song, Oxford Street, which has been available online since 2019 but not promoted as a single as such.

The story of Narrow Margin began with identical twins Ben and Jake Etches, who have been playing music together for fun since they were kids. Where they then met Ian, Danny and Herbie during their high school days which then led to things becoming slightly more serious and now today they release their debut single!

As for most Manc's, the boys parents have very good music taste as you can hear their influences packed together which creates such a great sound for 'Kids Don't Dance'. Lead singer Ian Spiller comes from a punk background which most noticeably shines throughout whereas Jake and Ben come from a Brit Pop background. The bands influcences are The Gaslight Anthem, The Clash, The Who, The Beatles and Manic Street Preachers, to name a few...

Kids Don't Dance was written by lead vocalist Ian Spiller and he says the lyrics reflect some of his frustrations. In his own words here is what Ian had to say on their debut single, “Kids Don't Dance is about the apathy and indifference that plagues much of society today. The bubble mentality people use to segregate themselvesand the sense of entitlement that many people have, without showing any sort of passion towards anything, makes me deeply uncomfortable and long to have been born in a time when people seemed to have more purpose. That's not to say there aren't those that care; these are the people our music is for.”

Narrow Margin will have you singing along with the chorus within your first listen and already has SoundMate chomping at the bit to hear more!
