The latest band to join the SoundMate roster are Failsworth indie rockers, The Coltens. Made up of high school friends Harrison Lord (lead singer/guitarist), William Hurst-Whyatt (bassist) and Brandon Egan (drummer), The Coltens are looking to pursue their dreams of making a name for themselves in the Manchester music scene.
The Coltens have the tonal mashup of 90’s abrasive rock with 2020’s indie crowd pleasers, a real Manchester feel. With extreme guitar solos and catchy tunes, they are one of those bands you never knew you needed or appreciated until they were put in front of you to enjoy.
We had a chat with The Coltens to find out what they are all about, their inspirations and what they have in the pipeline…
Welcome to the SoundMate family boys – in a nutshell, tell us what you boys are here to do…
We are here to make an impact on the Manchester music scene, we base our music around fans and love to get crowds invloved in our music while we perform. We are here to create music what people can relate to, music for the people. Sticking to a mix of 90s and modern day rock music people have always loved…
With you forming a band together from such a young age, tell us about your early inspirations?
When we first started as a band back in the early years of high school we was heavily influenced by music all the way from 60s to 90s rock music, we started off gigging at school and local pubs tributing bands such as Oasis, Pink Floyd, Police, MotleyCru and Arctic Monkeys. We later descovered Catfish and the bottle men, Sam Fender which influenced us into becoming an original band and start writing our own material.
Your first show under SoundMate will be at the iconic Deaf Institute, what would be your dream venue to play at one day?
Playing the Deaf Institute is already a dream come true for us as we have been there many times to watch bands we love, so to be able to play ourselves will be a top experience. Besides that it would be cool to play at some of the other iconic music venues such as the Cavern Club!
What made you as a band want to join the SoundMate roster?
The SoundMate roster seemed like a great way to help us get our music out there. They really showed intrest in our music and what we are doing. We are really happy to be working with you and we are exited to see where the road takes us…
We’re really excited to work with you on your future releases, can you give us any idea when we can all expect the next hit(s) from The Coltens?
We are currently recording on a catalogue of tunes, whilst still undecided what songs will make the cut for a potential album/EP. We have been working on some of our best songs to date and we cant wait for everyone to listen, we have very high hopes as we continue to improve day-by-day.
Well we are certainly thrilled to be working with the young indie rockers and we cannot wait to host them on a stage near you soon. In the meantime make sure you get your Coltens fix by listening to their current library of songs featuring their latest single ‘Grave Digger’.
