After keeping close contact for some time now, we are over the moon to announce that Loftheads have joined the SoundMate Roster. We get to work with them straight away with all eyes on North Fest 2022 and we already have some plans in place for later this year.
The alternative rockers hailing from the suburbs of Stockport got together back in 2019 before releasing their debut single ‘The Gram’ in October 2021. This was when Loftheads caught our eye and went on to play a support slot at The Bread Shed in December 2021 where they brought some serious energy to the stage and a loyal fanbase to boot. A great must-see live act with punchy lyrics and exciting riffs which always gets the crowd going.
They have just recently released their debut EP in April 2022 ‘Don’t Watch The News’, which really does have Reverend and the Makers vibes around it from all angles. Our personal favourite is ‘I’m Good For It’, such a energising song packed with attitude that we cannot wait to see the band showcase on the SoundMate stage at North Fest this summer. We caught up with the band to ask them a few questions on joining SoundMate, their recent EP and what the future holds…
We’ve been keen admirers of you for some time now and especially since watching you live at The Bread Shed, what excites you most about joining SoundMate?
Definitely the opportunity to gain a larger audience, through potential radio links SoundMate has and the opportunity to play outside of Manchester. There’s a great set of bands on the current roster and we are really excited to join them as well.
Your recent EP is a perfect reflection of what Loftheads are all about, what are your future plans for new material?
We’re hoping to bring some new material out by September, we have some time now to go into rehearsals and create new music, so that’s what we’re going to do. The next thing we do will be huge, especially now we have SoundMate behind us!
We believe there is some news pending regarding a big Manchester headline later this year, what venue would you like to headline one day?
Good question, Glasto? No, I think in the next two years, somewhere like the ritz in Manchester would be a place we would love to headline.
We cannot wait to have you on board the SoundMate stage this year at NorthFest, what will Loftheads be bringing to the party?
Complete energy, when we play live, we make sure we are all bouncing and we like to keep the crowd involved. If a stage dive is available without breaking anything, bones or equipment, it could happen.
Who are the main influences that made you all start this journey together?
There’s a lot, we all love Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian/Oasis the obvious choices with Indie music but we definitely have some other influences in our music like Fleetwood Mac/Rolling stones/Hendrix. We like our older stuff as well.
We certainly cannot wait to get working with the boys and we will have some news very, very soon! In the meantime be sure to go and follow the boys on social media.
